Private Security Patrol Overview
Romanelli West contracts with off-duty Kansas City police officers to provide incremental security patrols in the neighborhood. This service is funded through an optional, annual security assessment of $55 per household (15 cents a day).

Patrol times vary based on crime statistics, with a higher concentration of patrols during weekdays when many neighbors are at work and crimes are statistically more likely to occur. Patrol officers know the neighborhood, and their increased presence in marked and unmarked police cars has made a positive impact on crime prevention since the program was instituted.

When notified, patrol offices will pay special attention to neighborhood homes when you are away. Use the Contact Us (see below) feature to inform us of your travel dates to take advantage of this service.

Security Best Practices
While nothing can prevent all crime, the following best practices can go a long way toward protecting yourself, your loved ones and your property.
  • Keep your vehicle and home doors locked and your garage door closed at all times
  • Keep your vehicle locked with visible contents removed when not in the garage
  • Don't leave your vehicle warming up (city ordinance violation & risk of theft) unless you have a remote start with a locking mechanism
  • Install exterior lighting, either dawn-to-dusk(preferred) or motion-sensor
  • Put bikes, lawn equipment, ladders etc. away when not in use
  • If you encounter a suspicious or aggressive door-to-door vendor (who might be a burglar checking to see if anyone is home) or see something or someone that looks out of place, call 9-1-1.  If our security patrol officers or on-duty police officers are in the area they will do a courtesy check
  • Install a monitored security system
  • Get a dog
